USA Dirt Bike 09 Berg test

Read the test in the Feb Dirt Bike (Hi Torque's USA magazine). It was not the usual wrecking crew test, but they did come up with a few things. Has anyone else read that who has 09 Berg. They said shock preload was hard to get too, could not see how much fuel, and bike deflected in straight line riding, but they seemed to give it the thumbs up.

On my side, while keep reading it (long flights) I'm not counting DB as a professional magazine for few years now.
Very shallow articles without giving heads up on many important points. Lot's of technical mistakes.

You do wonder whether some of these mags test bikes at all, or just read it somewhere and then put it in their mag.
There are a few minor things that have cropped up in threads for the 09 Berg but none of the above.
One test even said you have to remove tank/subframe to get to the preload ring !
You undo two bolts and take the shock out, set the preload when you do sags etc and then refit, two min job. If you are changing spring or servicing shock, you have to take it out anyway.
The bike does not deflect in straight line, even better when dialled in.
You can clearly see the fuel level.
They are wrong on all three counts, great mag

No, DB said "you can't adjust the preload b/c the shock is buried" . What a bunch of glad handing goons. You can remove the 09 Berg shock as anyone knows who has one by just removing the top and bottom bolts as per the manual. The KTM's have been that way for some time. Their bias is blatant. They like a bike that comes so choked up you have to pull out a core, remove a throttle limiter bolt, cut a grey wire, and respring it before you can really even ride it. Bullocks!!!

How do you REALLY feel Dale???

I think the mags are in the business to ADVERTISE . Not give real world real experiences. I also think the testers are too used to riding the bikes with a ton of farkels and dont really know where the regular Joe is coming from and expecting. I have had 2 bergs and they are extremely UNMODIFIED and worked great right out of the crate. I never had a Jap bike that was that good right out of the box.

My 2005 only has a Scotts and Boss tank and it has been GREAT.

KTM shocks can be adjusted on the bike without removing anything.
Regardless, it's super easy to remove it...

Now that most of the mags have tested the 09's I think that the UHE Wrecking Crew should write their own test (with photos) telling the complete story and perhaps it can be placed in the downloads section.
