Upper oil screen

Just a question, does any debris gather on the inside (my guess is yes) or outside of that screen?

I just did my first oil change and had a look, no debris on either side, so I just put her back in.

(Just a minor amount of flakage on the lower screen too.)

Thanks.

By 'upper oil screen' I guess you mean the small one behing the banjo bolt in the cyl head? That's the oil drain back to the sump so any debris will collect on the outside. Never found anything on that screen yet after 120hrs.
Come to think of it, I've never found anything on the sump screen either.

With the valve cover off, you can see where the little screen sits in this picture if that helps:
I havn't seen any debris on my screen in the banjo bolt.

The only time I ever found any debris here was on the first oil change. I have checked it several times since then with no debris on the screen.

You should keep an eye on it though. There is an oil pump connected to this line, or a scavenging pump that pulls all the oil from the head and puts it back into the sump. Especially important on long down hills.

My screen finally cleaned up. I was getting metal on every oil change, finally found pieces of the main oil seal spring and had that fixed. Next few changes still showed a little metal as it cleaned out. Last change, the screen was nearly 100% clean.
