That was my reply to a guy yesterday, i let him loose on the my 550 and then asked him how did you find the power?
His reply: "Not a path on the yam" that being his wr450.
Then followed it up by "its abit like a tractor"

:x

Yeah, I know what you mean, I had a fella Sat ride my FE570 after putting it in the hot setting, and he gave a similar response. I think it's motivated by jealousy.

A tractor ? A Fire breathing tractor ! I EAT CRF 450X's and WR 450's alive with a 2000 FE 501 ,I weigh 285 lbs. So tell him to blow it out his arse! Well on second thought "up yours monkeyboy" also works quite well. pure jealousy, one of my good riding buddies has a WR 450, by the time he dropped $1500.00 to "un cork it" to get it to run well and he could have dropped another $500.00 and had a Berg that wouldn't need all that work. As an old Boss of mine used to say "no jap ****" Certain people lack intellectual honesty.

a freind "let me" ride his 250f

whatya fink ? he wants to know.

I said I was speechless, did't know how else to put it.

he couldn't start mine

I let a friend ride my FC550 (after I started it for him). I rode his stock WR250F. After riding my bike he commented how the power delivery felt very much like his 250F.......go figure.

It would be the same power delivery on any bike with what he has... A limp right wrist.

(sorry, first post and all on the site. I couldn't help myself)

Perfect answer dude... nothing more needs to be said... most 250f's will leave you speechless, especially the trail / enduros, they're capital S shyte.

Maybe by this he meant literally it felt like a chain driving a sprocket which in turn drives the wheel...in which case he's perfectly correct. But I doubt thats what he meant, even if it would be the only simularity aside from also having two wheels (with one bieng in the air half the time on the 550) lol

didn't know what else to say without sounding like a monkey boy

the lil bikes have more usable rev range. sometimes even the 450s can hold a gear for longer than my 628, and the ammount of power they get out of the 250fs is quite impressive, I guess thats why they only last 30 hrs :D Id kill one in 10 easy, the clutch at least if not the engine.

sometimes the guys rave about someones new 450 show me all the magazine articles and want to know what I think of it.......... I like the chassis, seat/tank layout, suspension and low tip weights most of the time but the stress on the engines from the high rpms makes me laugh and they're still not making all that much tourque. sometimes they have almost enough tourque or almost enough top end or almost enough usable rpm range but its never enough of all of those things at once. jump back on the berg and the layout feels weird for a while but man the engine pulls like a train and still honks up top ............

weird how 450 capacity limited class competition with 102kg minumum weight limit is considered the top of the notch in current development ... in 2009! jeebus H that 92kg Fe501 with ohlins link rear gets me going and its basically unchanged from what they came up with in the 80's........... bring back the mullets

I've let 3 friends ride my 650. Here are some of the responses.
One friend who rides an 05 CRF450R likes my 650 a lot. We both agreed that
it needed a steering damper at high speed on the street with the stock 15/45
at the time. So I got the Scotts and took care of the shimmy. He also commented
on the never ending pull. He loved that. :D
Friend #2 said it was too tall. That's because he short  He didn't ride it that much
Friend # 3 rode it around the staging area only and said it vibrates some.
That was while I was throwing around his 08 CRF250X on the rtrack. I had the power
completely used up on that bike. I can imagine that I could do some damage to a bike
like that by riding it all out for extended periods of time along with the fact that I was
completely collapsing the suspension. Other than that it can be kind of fun throwing
around toys.

...don't forget to load some Men at Work in the iPod to go with that Mullet. Actually, our MPC (mullet per capita) ratio is still pretty high here in Texas.

Now that is something I'd be keeping to myself if I was you
