Finally got the 550 back up and running the last thing I was waiting for was my reground OEM cam to a X2 profile, along with a set of Kibblewhite valve springs and more modified carb settings I have to say it's just about perfect.
Gone now has that harsh slapping noise due to the slightly con-caved flanks of the original cam, also by fitting the duel valve springs fingers crossed less lightly to brake as do the OEM one's on occasions, plus with the more rounded profile of the cam and softer springs gives a lot less stress on the valve train.
The output is smooth and progressive along with the torque once you hit midrange this is when you feel the difference, distinct more of both than with the original cam.
Any body that is interested in having there cam reground to an X1 or X2 profile you can contact Joy Engineering on 0044 (0)1279 730628. The cost is around 100 pounds or 130 Euros.
As for the change in jetting DaleEO kindly sent me over a HDJ emulsion tube and two needles CVS and CVR the CVR to me ran a bit rich the CVS clip 2 spot on, also 160MJ 38PJ
2 turns out PS and 1/2 a turn out on the PAS.
And that's it all I have to do now is ride the bloody thing.

Sparks.

Hi Neil,

Welded and reground, Taffy kindly sent him his X2 cam and he took the profile off that, he originally reground it to an X1 but that was to peaky for me.
Exerlent craftsman ship the surface finish was you would expect to see on the original thing.

I sincerely hope that by this you don't mean you've simply started copying Dale Lineaweaver's designs? Or was this copied with his prior permission?
