I got the under-seat tank for the Fe 650 but the ingnition unit and mount are preventing me from installing it. Where should I move this unit to so I can mount the tank. This bike is brand new and I don't want to jack it up fitting this tank.

Also, can anyone recommend jetting for this thing. Its really lean.

Hey Baja -

I made a custom bracket and moved mine in front of the steering head. Tha harness is just long enough to work.

Additionally, call IMS (800-237-9906) and order a 90 degree vent fitting (part #218395).

This will be helpful for venting the secondary tank into the primary tank up near the filler head.

Good Luck!

what carb have you got and do you have a list of what is already in it? (jetting). i can set you straight if you let me know. PM?

up to 2003 that ignition unit was bolted under the mainframe above the inlet inspection cover, it may go back there neatly.

where did you get the underseat tank? ive been looking for one ever since I bought the bike!

Ignition Module location

Taffy,

Can you post a picture so less-imaginative sorts can see where the mount is...

will try to sometime but in the meantime: just to say that the unit has a bolt hole right through the middle on mine and it fitted on a 'post' as previously mentioned above the inlet inspection cover. here, there is a carousel of earth wires.

so on mine the carousel would be pulled out the way, the ignition unit (whatever it is BTW) put on, then the carousel on and bolted up.

baja_racer;
try 'dial-a-jet'. from what i have heard about it, it really works. dezduster has one on his 501 and there was a write up in dirt rider about dicksracing ktm 575 which had it too.
looking forward to seeing you in baja. i may bring my berg down but i'm worried about the police/federal stealing it.

Well, I finally got this tank installed. The fit and finish is crap! Nothing lines up and you have to move the ignition module to the front of the bike. We are making a bracket to mount it to the GPR Stabilizer's post collar. You also loose the inside shield on the fender because the tank replaces it. They supply a plastic skirt that bolts to the bottom of the tank but it also has opportunities for improvement. I'll post some pics when the bike comes back from the suspension shop later this week.

BTW: I also think I figured out the jetting pretty well. 48 pilot, raise the needle on clip (richen), and a 180 main jet. We may go back to the 175 main after riding it a bit more.
