uk mot & standard fitted exhaust

hi u all just bought my self an 501 >2003 berg.check out the site ;very good info on ere.
but can any one answer me this ? or has anyone any experience on the mot.
well ere goes the exhaust that is fitted is the origanal but has no B S
markings how will it get past the test and wot if the boys in blue pull me while on the road? now it does not say for race use only but we all know its a bit loader than 83 db

any ideas will be appreciated as i will be a bit cheesed off if i end up replacing the can

To be fair, if your bike is much louder than standard, you should be making it quieter. You can weld a perforated plate at one end and double lag the insert. Failing that, replace the muffler, there's plenty around.
However, if your bike isn't much louder than normal, I wouldn't worry about it. You would have to have '~issed' someone off to have them start decibel testing your bike.
At an MOT, you only have to be within legal limits, not the specified limits of the bike.
Besides, you should locate your biker friendly MOT bays, they can be sympathetic particularly if you take the bike on a trailer - they see your not on the road with it all the time and be more lenient.
