UK finding some were to ride UK

ok after my run in with plod i just thought id ask if any body knows how i can find any local green lanes / byways to ride on:
tryed on the web no luck it seems as if its a closely guarded secret.
are there any sort of maps afficial body or groups i can contact.there is a track at 25 miles from me but apart from cost theres the fact it is only open wednesdays & weekend.
any help will be gratefully received

you need an ordinance survey map 1: 50,000. when you get it, open it, cut all the cardboard crap off. fold into 3 and put in a plastic zipped wallet as found in offices etc.

i mark all RUPPs and byways with a floerescent pen. each county does it differently. suffolk has RUPPs whilst cambridgeshire has byways.

sometimes a byway won't be signposted-but you can use it. sometimes a byway isn't on the map but there sits a sign looking at you. you can use it.

there are also dirt roads that connect several farms or houses. i use these but if you're caught - you don't know me right?
