Has anyone come across a rear tyre that will last longer than 2 rides on a 650. Something that is suited for intermediate/hard terrain would be ideal but would settle for nearly anything that would last more than at least 5 rides.

Mx retreads from wa last the longest

the sidewalls are stiffer than normal so if you normally run less than 12psi you will notice

I've been happy with Dunlops 952s on the FE650, last OK and don't chunk, with OK grip as they wear. Mitas C02 last a long time, but grip goes off fairly quickly as the tread blocks lose their edge, fun sliding around though. I've also had a good run with Motoz Desert H/Ts on my DR and reckon they'd likely be good on the Berg too, but untested on it as yet. I've also quite liked a cheap V Rubber that looks a lot like the 952, but I can't find it on the Link site, so maybe discontinued.

Hey there guys,
I have been running Pirelli scorpion extra on the rear
seems a good lasting all round tyre for what I do theses days.

Running a scorpion mid hard at the moment, held up pretty good on the first ride but didn't fair to well on the second, still held u better than most I've tried. Do the retreads have decent grip?

In hard stuff yes they are quite good

Not so good in sand but only because the side walls are too stiff for low pressure

Hey there,
I have used the retreads for many years, were good value for money, they were manufactured here in WA and cheaper than over priced genuine tyres.
I used to buy 10-20 at a time , get them cheap , they lasted well and were well worth it.

Seemed to have wide treads on the rear ,so they lasted ok.

The fronts were a replica of the old Dunlop 752(stopped makin em) , which were an awesome tyre , the problem with the old 752 was later in the life of the tyre ,on hard terrain ,they broke the side treads off, but grip was awesome. I imagine most tyres get a flogging and used on terrain they were not really customized for in the first place at times.

On the WA Retreads they have reinforced the outer lug on the front 752 replica ,so they don't break off, which is great. Same problem though toward the end of the tyre life , they break off the outer lug , but the tyre is pretty much done for by then anyway.( abused on terrain with hard sharp grippy rock)

I used to request the carcasses of the retreads come from a Michelin or other soft shell , that was flexible/pliable and quick /easy to change also ,when I used to have the odd race yrs ago.

After a few years in WA ,genuine tyres were getting up around $140-150 for a rear. Then whole sellers and resellers of tyres started to drop the price , like Michelin, with the popular S12 tyres, and put things back into perspective.

My personal experience is, any 550 -650 berg , if you give it some, it will shred a tyre in 3 hours, taking the edge off it pretty quick.

These days, I care nothing for tyres , don't race, just out for the ride , but love the sliding and balance of the bike front and rear, into and out of corners with no tyres, it sorts you out quickly and keeps you on your toes and interested, ha ha.

Cairns, I remember riding up the Goldsbrough river , up the old Malanda Mail Trail to Atherton about 20yr ago , good stuff, then the twistys down the hill back on the road!! Beautiful countryside..xr600..

Cheers

Thanks guys.
Have had a few older guys I've done work for mention that track enginenumber, they said it used to be a decent ride.

I always run a Mitas Co2 rear tyre. I find them really hard wearing. A really tough carcass. I have rode home a few miles with them flat.
Never had a 650 though, mines a 450.
