tyer pressure and tyre guage

I have always considered 12 psi front and rear was the standard, however, the berg manual is talking about 14psi as the standard. What do most use as pressure front and rear and how accurate are the tyre guages. I was told the pencil type are cheap and accurate... but not so sure.
 
You'll find a lot of diferent numbers here. For me it's been 13s front and rear mostly.And never below 12s . 15 or 16 for a cruise to the beach on the street.

12 psi front & rear for me offroad.
I up it to 15 if the terrain is rocks /stones to avoid a puncture.
If i have a trials tyre on the rear then 8-10 psi.
I use a little digi guage from the car auto shop (Halfords over here).
