you're rebuilding the LHS cover of your engine and you need to tighten the gear nuts so you use the half spreed shaft as a lever, a place upon which to rest your bar?
second scenario
you put the two nuts on the two gears the wrong way around so the recess faces up. next thing you know the crankgear is whining and coming loose!
of course this has never really happened!
the crankshaft is under machined and the single row bearing was never strong enough (how silly of me!)
