Turntech Battery fitment

Anybody running a 5AH turntech battery? If so how did you go fitting it into the battery box? Just got one and it is a real tight fit and will not fit right down in the box. I'm thinking I will have to trim the sides of the box off to get it to fit, but thinking this will weaken the battery box to much. Thought please?? or a way to solve it??

Dont suppose you can return it and get the correct dimensioned one?
I replaced my original battery wih a nice yellow Motobatt which not only matches in colour but more important.... it is a 7ah instead of 5 and it dropped right in with no mods.
If you have a welder and grinder then modifying the batt box will be do-able but seems pointless when there are many other battery's available that drop right in.
Also, if you do modify the box then what happens next time you change battery's and cant source another Turntec?
Dammit... more questions than answers im sorry.

There is a thread on here about different battery's and positions....... somewhere.

The value of the Turntech battery is that it saves significant weight compared to a conventional battery.

The problem is that Turntech essentially custom makes them and you have to either get a size that they currently have made or wait for them to make one for you.

Get in touch with Joe, the owner of TurnTech. He owns a 2009 Husaberg, and is pretty responsive to questions.

The battery box, on the right hand side, has two molded in ridges that fit matching slots in the stock Yuasa YTZ7. 30 seconds with a Dremel and you can ground down the ridges. It won't mess up the integrity of your battery box. The 5ah Turntech should slide right in now.

I did what JohnF3 says. Also put the heat gun to it a little. Then I lowered the top cover so my relays have more clearance from the seat. Might help the filter draw more air. First 639 miles my bike went thru four batteries. Then I e-mailed Joe and he had one in stock. Up over 2100 miles now and the TurnTech is great.

Four batteries in 639 miles!
That must be some kind of record surely? (of patients and persistence of the owner)

Thanks guys. got the dremell out and the heat gun and now its in. Hell of a lot lighter than standard!!
