Once again the pics I take with my own camera in front of my own house magically appear on here before I can even get home from work... Kelsow, you're fast!!!
Joe- you ears serve you well. I tuned the bike with the pros from Boostwurx in Edmonton Canada at about 3500 feet and 20 degrees F. It would pack the ski in the field in 4th until I ran out of space.
Then I drove 18 hours home, put a new track on it and headed 6 hours South to Utah for the big sled races. Parked at 9200 feet at about 40 degrees. Rode in to about 10,000 feet to race.
Yeah, it was way off. I didn't have the right main jet with me, and going on 5 hours of sleep in 3 days (and 2600 miles), I didn't have the gusto to drop the needle. I compensated by lowering the fuel pressure, lessening the squirt on the power jet, and adjusting the vanes to bring the boost in just above idle in order to get around the fat bog at 1/3 throttle. (Aerocharger 56 turbo)
It ran ok in 3rd, and hit 4th at the end of the day once it cooled off.
I need to tune it for about 7000 feet, (avg) and about 35 degrees (avg) at 10 psi. boost.
Ideas guys?
Oh, boost was set at 10 pounds.
Going testing tomorrow. I think I'll turn it up to 14 psi. How tough is the 650 motor anyway? I'm running VP fuel with a motor octane of 119. Only one way to find out!
I'll get some more photos of the trick carb setup once I get into it tonight. I bet I don't even have to upload the shots to my computer. Kelsow probably has my camera hacked...
Remind me to take some pics of the new rad guards that say "husaboost"
