Well here go's race report on the isle of man week away dudes, things did'nt get of to a great start two weeks before were due to leave i took the berg for a quick spin round the lanes ,when the clutch nut came loose oh s..t lots of noise clater clater not good me thinks stripdown shows that the two half moon rings behind the alloy clutch basket had done walkabout through the primary gears So time for a rebuild not ideal but rather it happened here than over in the island, turns out also that the oe piston i fitted not long ago had been hitting the counter balance drive gear, that left a week to go and my engine spread over the four corners of my workshop with me trying to get a new piston and gears sorted, top marks to alex at dave clark's for sorting me out turns out them orange nerds had missed machining the piston only just over 60 thou but enough to touch the gear, this still left me half a day to get it rebuilt and put back in the frame so much for a calm build up to the week away .
Phone rings its chief who is a veteran to the TT allready on the road heading to Haysham to catch the sat morning ferry asking if ive set off yet ,things are looking good vans loaded with the berg and enough tools and spares to rebuild most events, just time to pop home grab a few things ,much to the horror of her in doors who plans her weekends away with military precision things were looking good on the road at last 3 hours to the ferry to meet up with chief /rickstar/lard /and bear.
The ferry is due to sail at 2am sat morning, end up getting there just in time to get a swift beer the Holiday has begun Chief then tells me due a booking cock up that we may have to wait for the next ferry sat dinner, anyway more beers and the thought of sleepping in the van seems not to bad ,
After a not to bad a sleep we were awoken to the loud sounds of BYE JOVI from a van full of loud Erics (Germans) any how in a show of European harmony we helped our selves to there offer of cold pizza and a beer for breakfast .
Day 1 turns out we only just got on the dinner time ferry , never had this trouble before says chief, anyway we finally set sail and get to Douglas at 6am, sat is the first practice so we spend it watching practice from quarter bridge , all in all a good start a couple of beers wash the cheese burger down seems like thats the staple diet for the week, then chief pops up with the might be a cock up with the campsite booking due to him not ringing up till a week before were due here ,still chiefs confident his charm with the campsite owners wife will gain us a top site to stay.
No probs says chief after a hours chit chat with the sites owners wife i think were in the penthouse field up top there, just going to move the sheep for us first :?
Chief jumps in the van with me to co pilot while lard and the others follow in his van, were are we heading i say up that stone'y goat track comes the reply, feck me the vans doing a right good lick on bouncing around up the hillside I'm sure everest base camp is lower than were we intended to pitch camp ,penthouse he wasn't kidding , by this time light is fading so its a quick get the tents up and hit the zzzz
(ill post the rest tomorrow dudes me brains hurting)
