firstebal thanks for having this forum.
Yes I'm a newbe(on husaberg's only)
I yust purchased a 95 fe501 in not very good shape so it'll be my new headeche, he he. Hope I'm luky and my project goes right.

first of naything , lets try to realize waht I have, I have read the forum a bit before I bouth the bike and see that some people say that in 95 wasn't a electric start model. Well my fe has one, it isyelloww and blue colors with a tail light and a head light.
Ihaven'tt check de oil filter to see if it has oil filter or not( thing they started oil filter in 97) also it has inverted forks a battery box with a battery and all the electrical cables aredisconnectedd but the ignition key.
It also have a decompresor that has been installedd to decompress automatcly with thekickerr but it look like has a missing holder for the manual decompresor cable housing at the engine so it make me think the engine could be swaped??

well I think I have a good work to do.
list of things to do:(so you guys correct me if I'm wrongg)

change oil and clean screen(change filter, if it has one)
valve clearacee 0.10 both
ignition advance (with strove light I belive)
cam chain tensionerr?
check resistance on cableringg for bad contacts
check coil resistance. reconnectt cablering (a electrical blue print would be handy)
check battery
change brake and fork fluids
instal odometer (have to buy one)
install turn and break lights

bike starts at second kick but would not idle and looks really like the ignition is offsett no much power and runs very unstablee no backfire do.
the last owner install a new ignition on it and seems like he adjusted it by eye(how we say in spain).

well tatss for now will appreciatee any help
PD would it be a good Idea to move the mecanical part of the restoration project to the mecanicall forum?
thanks very much
marto

There was an FE501 as well as a FE501E for 95. Bike didn't come with a manual decompressor. Has a Stainless screen to strain the oil that you can clean. Might think about cleaning the carb as well. My wifes father was from Spain (Vizcarra) and she insists we must go there one day.

Spain is a wonderfull place to go off road there is where I first started to ride, now I live in pensylvania US.
I used to ride off road to this little old towns and have very good meals and keep going and going, you really can travel off road in spain, and the best is that is next to moroco, good memories of that too.
if you ever dicide to go just ask taht I would help with tips.

Thanks for the information.
I wander wy my bike has a manual decompresor on it did the fe 501 had a manual decompresor.
anybody knows how to check engine number and frame number.
also some literature workshop manual or so.
I know ther is a parts manual online very helpful but I belive it does not have torque for screws and so on.
sombody knows where I can find a big gas tank?

I did moved the tech part of this tread to the mechanical forum.
it is call "did I got a lemon" funy but I'm really skeptical.

It was so long ago that I had my 96 FE400E that I can't recall if it had the manual decompressor or not, but I think it just may have had one. I looked at a 97 or 98 FE600E a fellow had for sale last year, and it didn't have the manual decompressor. Hard to say.
