i was reading through the owners doc to try and find out if i can buy some general after market triple clamps or if i have to get new berg ones. Does anyone knowthe answer to this one.
thanks man and yes i have a 98 FC501 i have all the irretating questions. I have seen allot of guys on hewre with older models that look as though they have put upside side down forks on. I still have the old 50mm wp conventionals. what do you mean by *mm offset (the bar placement?) and way thnks again for the info.
Mberg,
Re your "old WP conventionals" (50mm Extremes), along with Showa conversions this is the other fork that the KTM guys rave about.
A lot of guys rate the "old" conventional as a far better "woods" fork than the current 48mmUSD, and some even get rid of the 48USDs and retrofit the 50mm conventional.
As far as triple clamps, I dont really understand your initial question. Are you wanting a standard replacement or are you trying a USD conversion on your bike ?
just trying to get a standard replacement. I have replaced the bars, grips, levers, and hangaurds so i figure why not the tripleclamps as well right. Thanks to Dan @ Motoexotica my 98 berg is lookin like new with the plastics and stuff from him. Just going through the whole bike since i cannot ride right now

Currently there is an MX-Tech triple clamp on eBay that should fit newer Bergs (it was designed for the KTMs) and if I am correct it should fit the 2003 onward.
Such MX-Tech triple clamp was rendered useless in 2005 after KTM applied the new offset to their bikes.
It's pretty nice looking and billet aluminum and all.
