I cut the connectors off the stk speedo & made some small jumpers for a direct plug in . also notice the motion pro throttle cables. I know I need to move the decomp & brake lines .Works really well

I bought two 3/8" spacers & used two 30mm lenght bolts ( Brake caliper bolts )

hello, can you tell me please if your tacho (rpm indicator) is working ok or (most propably) it does not?

and if works well which type of sensor youy have?

thank you in advance

Does the tach have a mode in case your bike gives a spark at every TDC is the question.

I just fitted a Vapor to my wifes KLX250, now 300, last Sat. The rpm sensor is a length of wire wrapped approx 10 times around the plug lead. I then put some heat shrink over for security. In setup mode the default is one spark per revolution which will cover most bikes but it can also be set for every second revolution, and very interestingly it can be set to change. It would seem that some modern ignitions will swap from 1 spark per rev to 1 per 2 rev at some preset rpm. The Vapor handles this, its a nice bit of gear.

I guess a tach is good to have, at least when want to determine how loud your pipe is (you need to rev at a certain rpm according to stroke and bore).

But the most important on a Husaberg has to be the thermometer. Is it a good feature?

Froggy,

Surpsiingly perhaps, the original tach on my wife's KLX has been a fantastic thing for her, because she never used enough revs. She now treats 4000 rpm as more or less the minimum, rather than what I suspect was close to her redline. She now carries momentum over obstacles that would cause her grief before, and changes down before a hill, rather than on it and then stop. As well as the analog tach, the Vapor has two shift lights, a yellow and red, and both programmable and my intent is to use the yellow as her objective, ie I've set it to 4000, and if it goes off she should change down. We shall see.

The temp gauge is I think a bit academic as the Bergs generally don't overheat, certainly my 98 has never overheated as evidenced but coolant out the overflow. The 650 seems OK too, and I do have a fan on it, but as discussed eleswhere it does run a lot due to the thermo switch being set quite low, I think 80 deg was quoted. The KLX has a temp warning light too, standard, and I fitted the indicator light surround and mounting bracket so she still has all 4 warning lights. She likes the neutral light even though we have discussed ad nauseum the fact that it doesn't have any practical value.

the trail -tech is very adjustable & affordable. I mostly bought it because I use the bike as a daily commuter & the stk speedo was useless imo. I think you can put one on in about 1 hour.It took me more time cause I hooked mine up with the bergs harness.

my question was due to the specific rpm sensor that trailtech uses (simple wire around)
which produces a very "noisy" signal result.
my tach never worked well on my berg anyway, very unstable indication due to the bad signal.
i thought may be the have resolved the issue with another type of sensor, and from what i can realise they did not.
maybe adding a terminal resistor and using shielded wire is the way to go
