Total fuel loss mystery...

I can only figure the needle was not seated but why would this occur spontaneously? I moved the bike a few feet under cover the night before. No problem where it was or after I moved it. The next morning it started to leak fuel through the float bowl overflow. My wife noticed a couple of spots under the bike when she passed by the bike and a couple hours later I saw a huge puddle and all fuel had run out. I would suspect a damaged float but I've since filled the tank and no leaks.

Sounds like some gunk in your bowl may have gotten your float needle stuck open and has moved or settled out after it ran completely dry. Sea Foam might be an easy fix but you might want to drop the bowl and hit it with some carb spray. If it has been a while or if it is the first one this season I would do a full carb breakdown and clean. I imagine some gas evaporated in your carb and left some junk in there. I have had similar problems in the past but a pretty simple fix.

It would be great to know what bike and carb you having the problem with. If its Dellorto I think bad float valve if your carb was clean and you still had the problem.
You should turn off you fuel petcocks when parked or take out more home owner insurance.

When we fill our vehicle tank with fuel we must ensure that the tank is locked tightly otherwise if it is loosed then fuel will be lost and it will be again a problem for us and again we have to fill our tank which is an extra cost for us.

I do agree with the Smith that after we full over tank we must make sure that the valve is tight to avoid extra cost on the fuel filling.

and if we fill our tank and don't lock it tight and we later see the fuel in our neighbor's tank is that a transgression of the 10 commandments? :bounce3:
