Tool bag

I usually carry an assortment of tools on any given ride.
A spare 21" tube, levers, small pump etc.
Do any of you use the space under the seat to carry such items?
Or should I just mount a bag on the rear fender.

I have an auxiliary tank under the seat and have been thinking of something line the rack made by ProMotoBillet. http://promotobillet.com/

What do you think?

Bergdaddy has one similar to this on his Berg.

I thought about using a rack myself until I found this strong fender mount pack from Blue Ridge Racing at http://www.blueridgeracing.com/MotorcycleKitOpt.htm This is the best fender mount pack that I have seen on the market and it holds a ****-load of tools or personal items. I have had mine for over a year with no problems. It even has water-tight compartments for carring cell phones, insurance cards or wallets.

On a berg a small pack could be mounted to the
under side of the seat I suppose.I have had fender
packs that work great but could never get myself
to mount one on the berg,it was just to good looking
of a dirt bike.

Gota agree with you. I considered fitting a bag but just didn`t want to spoil a good looking bike

I had an aluminum tool tox made for my '92 fe501 (got the idea from Jimmy Erickson). Just remove the seat yo remove tools, etc. Use course foam (like between skid plate and motor) to fill void space (reduces chaffing and noise).

No pictures that I can think of, I'll check though. Seems to me that I took out the plastic mud guard behind the shock only used the lower plastic part (to keep mud out of shock shaft). Design it so it wedges down into place. Use rubber or plastic between the frame and box (locator tabs/sockets). I can't remember if I hose clamped it or ny-tied it to reduce rattles. The '92 had an ugly gray frame, so I wasn't worried about looks. Funny, I had forgot how nice it was to ride w/o a fanny pack.

Hey guys, I use a small back pack. There are many to choose from, most have a hydration system in them. I have a Fly racing pack, it is small enough that it is not too heavy when filled with the neccesities, well padded to fit over a chest protector, and lots of little pockets to store your tools and supplies. Check them out, I feel naked without mine on.

I wear a Hydration pack but no tools. The thought
of crashing and having a screwdriver or something
stuck in me was unappealing.Yes I am paranoid,
but at work,(this actually happened) one of our
"watch out for falling objects" signs obove our
corrugator fell and hit my friend John in the head.

Hey T-jet, I am also paranoid about sharp objects as well. Here is my solution. Use a six-in-one screwdriver, broke down the danger of a puncture wound is gone. My tire irons(small) and any wrenches are wrapped in rags. I use rubberbands made from old front tire innertubes to hold the rags and wrenches tight(they also work great for trail repairs). This packs the tools tight and leaves plenty of room for fist aid/survival kits, extra gloves, plugs and parts, etc. Also I wear my pack over my chest protector. After having many get-offs with this set up, I have never had an injury from the pack! There have been a few blown water bladders though. I also have used fanny packs(IMHO..they suck), rear fender packs(they get in your way on down hills and do not have enough room), and the front fender bag(also too small and stresses the front fender mounts, breaking the fender). Hope this helps.

Kelsow,
Hopefully, will get out on more rides with us Valley guys,so it is important that you have an ample tool bag.Steve and Hoyt need help carrying ALL my stuff. :D
