Hey guys.. Starting to get the bike ready for the season i was going to change the oil the other day..
The bike has been placed in the basement since october.. since i haven't owned the bike very long i`m not very good on the left hand kickstarter yet.. So what i did was turn the fuel taps on, pull the choke on, and kicked it 3-4 times gently to get fuel throug the carb, then i turned the ignition on and kicked as i used to do, nothing.. i kicked and kicked for a few minutes, nothing.. Just about ready to give up, i turned the choke off, gave it 2 more kicks and it came to life.. Is the mixture too rich or what do u think? i have no idea what jets i have or anything, just know it runs like hell :D

Sounds like you got your bike flooded. Did you check your plug? I think the bike would have started alright if you had just cranked it over like you usually do when starting. My bike usually starts in 3-6 full kicks. I think its alright but whatever you do don`t get it flooded. You will get the hang of it just takes time. Hope this helps.

Hey Norberg
Welcome to Husabergs.
your starting proceedure sounds normal to me.

Best of luck

Wildbill.. The plug is brand new, replaced it this winter when i put in the 03+ rocker arms, i dident get any good cold kickstarts before ider.. it is a litle to easy just hitting that button.. But i am going to learn how to kick..
Even if i am putting the new Yuasa in the bike one of the next days

Ady.. guess it is gonna be allright with some more practise..

No what I meant was if your bike was running rich then the plug would show the condition. You will get the hang of it just takes time. I have to use a milkcrate to place my right foot on and kick with my left. The bike usually starts between 3-6 full kicks (follow through is the key). Once hot it starts in 1 or 2 full kicks. Good luck and don`t get in a hurry trying to start then you will be alright. Hope this helps.

Aha.. a plug reading off course, the old plug is chocolate brown, so i guess its not a big deal.. Just happy its not chocolate white.. :D
