Hi folks,

Anyone know where these can be bought for my year/model, and whats the cheepest anyone has seen them for?

from what i saw today i wouldn't want ti valves in any bike of mine.

knew that they liked to stretch and today saw a husky piston with one of the valves embedded in the top of the piston.

full story, though is that the owner hadn't kept up with servicing, knew there was something not quite right but kept riding, for several months, until the valve snapped.

should of asked to have the piston to put on the shelf as a reminder to do routine maintenance.

from just reading the owners doc and looking on line in respect of valves, to pervert a saying - "you can have cheap, reliable, titanium. pick any 2"

What's happened to the bike crispin, saw your post saying it bike down over the weekend?

if you can't rattle the valves on a 450, it's humanly impossible on the 550 and 650 coz it MUST rev less. only the 450 should give trouble and it diesn't so therefore there are no problems with OEM walves.

so that leaves the springs. conicals break all the time. you're either lucky or you're not!

your biggest danger is a mickey mouse cam chain. i pulled on one the other day, fuuly tensioned, none left, the whole chain would too and fro and i could make waves with it by flicking it. pulled it off and it was just 4mm longer than new over it's length.

freind has 09 kxf250 with 10 hours on it

its been back once allready for tight intake valves at 3 hrs

going back again today

seen a lot of hondas same problem.

but my old yz400 has 5 Ti valves all still in spec with well over 20 000km ?

so yamaha has a patent on special Ti coatings or summink.

titanium is a wonder metal its true, even cheep (his spelling) but it has some applications that are dubious in my opinion ,the weight factor does make more power I believe is the thought here ? any one ? .. any way I have ordered the dual rate steel spring kit for my stock fs550e retardmotard from the Meister look forward to seeing how it runs feels and sounds after this swap..

Hi all, you guessed it, broken valve spring. This is the second spring thats broken on me in <12 hrs. Taffys hit the nail on the head with regards the OEM conical springs as far as I my expereience goes. I believe the weight ratio is the save in terms of energy efficiency, and therefore increased power output??

As Taffy says, the reliability should not be a problem, based on the 450 performance. Does anyone know what the difference is regarding the springs that come withg the Ti valves? Are they a different design that are not as prone to failure? Does anyone know how much these Ti valve/spring sets can be bought for & where from?

Thanks

Crispin
