hey Lplates how long have you had your ac10's i just ordered them and they will be here fri looking forward to the weekend here in nor cal

Hi,

I'm using Metzeler 6 days at the moment, seem to last real well and are FIM approved so should be road legal. David Knight uses them allegedly so no more to say really!

i saw that but how do they hook up on dirt and they have to last a long time if they are ment for street use as well right

Well, probably too late if you've ordered already mberg but for what it's worth,Dunlop 756's are the best all around combo I've found to date. Not street legal of course and I expect they'd have a short life span on the road. They wear good, hook up good in all terrain and corner well. They're also quite impressive at chucking rocks at KTM's

An S12 rear is tough to beat in everything but rock.

I am really liking the 90/100-21 Bridgestone 201 on the front. The wider front tire really grips and offers a lot more cushion in the rocks.

i get good life out of my ac10 never ripped up real bad and they r a good all rounder not the best for soft ground ie sand deep mud but road leagle as well which i need.

The Six Days seem to hook up really well in the dirt and are pretty hard compund so they seem to be lasting well on the bits of road I've done between trails. I was using Mitas FIM tyres before and quite liked them although some of my mates tried them and weren't keen, but then they ride KTMs so what do they know?

Years ago, while actively racing in the desert on a KTM 550, the tire of choice was a Dunlop 695 Desert. It lasted, hooked up well, and most endearing to me, was usable till the knobs were mostly gone. These tires are still listed in few mail order fliers. Nowadays, riding a good mix of trail types, I find the Dunlop 756 to be an excellent choice. I run these on my 450, and had used them on my previous 501. So if you happen to see a 695 Desert offered, pick it up for future use, I doubt you will tear it up. Buzzard

first off thank you all for your inputs they have been very valuble, maybe its just me but ive looked at all of these tires and with the exception of the desert tires that AC10 looks the most aggressive for the sand to hardpack conditions i see here in monterey, ca. thanks again guys

Another vote for the S12

Hi Gang,

On the rear the best value all round tyre is the Mitas CO2, sometimes known as the Stone King. Last unbelievably and do not tear knobs off, which are 18 mm long when new. On the fornt I like Pirelli 410 or BS 210. Both nearly as good as a Mich S12 but last 3 times as long on my 501 on rock.

Everything else I've tried either doesn't hook up or last 5 mins. 756s for example aren't bad, but don't last. Assorted Maxxix just rip up, etc etc.

for long lasting, go with Maxxis Desert IT (not standard IT, but Desert IT)....over 1000 miles on our FE650e and just swapped it over at about 700 miles.
