Tips for adjusting the valve

Well there are several threads about valves and their ajdustment, so take a look at them first and i think youll find more answers.

But to summarize
1 & 2: no you need to set the piston at TDC so that they are both closed and no pressure is on the valves from the cam.

3. You will feel it very easily, take a look at the exploded view at the cam and its parts and you'll see that the arms sit ontop. Just try it and you'll notice it when it just stop, just dont force it.

4. Yes I does work just as good but I think it's a personal preference since everybody does things differently in a garage. But doesn't hurt to do 1/6th method and before you put back the valve cover, jam in a feeler gauge and double check if you want.

5. What do you mean? All 4 valves have the same tolerance

Yeah about the exhaust clearance being the same as intake, I dont know why exactly. I've never really thought of the direct effect of minimal valve clearance differences other than that the timing differs and heat expansions that occur to the valvetrain. Otherwise I'm not sure. Nice tool you made there! I just shortened an old screwdriver to keep it in place and use the locking nut as a reference.

some people have a 'chubby' screwdriver. a little thing about 50-80mm long. the smallest in your tool kit. if you have one with exchange ends then use that. they are brilliant. just use the metal part.
