Timing chains.

Could any one tell me if you can shorten the 82 link timing chain ( part No. 200-045-03 ) by four links and make it fit the 1999 FE 501 that needs the 78 link chain ( Part No. 200-045-02).

I don't know if the pitch of the chain will be the same that is my only concern.

I ask this as I can get hold of a 82 link chain straight away but there is a 3 week wait on the 78 link.

you'll be fine. remember to "count twice but only cut once"!!!!
