Had this FE450 for a month or so with 220 hours on it, and on startup, there is camchain slap that takes a minute or so to clear whilst the auto hydraulic adjuster pumps up. I'm told a manual adjuster is the way to go? If so, where can I get one?

why worry? if you think it could up-a-click on the tensioner then all i did was undo the two outside bolts holding the CCT in by about 1 turn of each bolt. with a thread pitch of about .75mm this allowed the tensioner to click on one click.

it just has a job adjusting sometimes. I am not a fan of the manual tensioner because; the lunatics are in charge of the asylum!!!!!

as a Yorkshireman I'd stick to the Yorkshire expression; "i trust (just) me and thee". (To yanks; I trust me and (also just) me)

cheers
