My timing chain sounds like it has alot of slack. Is it auto or do I need to adjust. What do I need to buy to fix it.Thanks guy's

I assume you are talking about the cam chain. On the new 70deg engines, they are pretty noisy. I put in a Dirt Trick Cam Chain Tensioner and it is a tonne better than stock....way less noise.

The bike is a 99 400fc.This bike may have 50 hrs on it.The guy I got it from said he never rode it much it just sat in the barn. But when I ride it It make's a lot of slapping noise just after you crack the throttle then stop's when I nail it.

Change it before its too late, then make the following changes:

If you can change the timing sprocket to a steel one, the alum. is no good.

Last, see owners docs and make a new tip of the chain tensioner (longuer one), so the chain last longuer or change the guide but don't know if its possible on the 99 engine.

I have looked at it but always been too busy to try it. the pre 2001 engines have the 2001-2003 blade but upside down! I think it wouldn't work from looking at it but need another look.

look, at £5.80 it isn't going to break anybodies bank now is it!
