Ticking/knocking in engine(video w/sound)

Hi guys, i got this sound in my engine:

[youtube:2bbncg46]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S94GnMItjBE&feature=share&list=UUESkRSvOfLM2o1_jYMzxaTA[/youtube:2bbncg46]

I've done some research and found out that is most possible the camchain tensioner. I've ordered a Dirt tricks tensioner, think this will remove the sound, but my question is;

Is it safe to drive with this sound, or should i just park my bike untill i get the D.T.T?

Have you had the bike long?

I thought it sounded ok - the reason I ask is that they have a tick to them naturally. Quite off putting when you first get this bike. See what others think.

I found that the sound, is not THAT loud in the video. Had the bike for a month. I become aware of the sound after oil change last night, never noticed it before.

1,35L oil was filled, and filter changed. All skrews and filters was tighten with correct NM, and I didn't found any leaks.
I looked through the oilwindow, and correct amount was there.

The bike has 90hrs runtime, and valuecheck was done at 50hrs (According to previous owner). Think i will do a check at 100hrs.

you could have got rid of the noise by simply unbolting the tensioner a fraction and then back up again. but good to hear you're good to go.

Taffy, just curious on why loosening and tightening helps - not a mechanic myself!

I have a DJH tensioner fitted which seems ok but also have a new Husaberg tensioner in case! Is the tapping just the cam chain or the valves. Had my valve settings checked and they thought tensioner was slightly too tight so loosened tensioner slightly - so a bit noisier!

the loosening of the mounting bolts by say 0.5mm allows the clicker inside to click forwards one place and take up the slack. then you close it back in again and the the chain is back under tension.

Dirt tricks camchain tensioner mounted and sound gone!

Hi henrik,

I just got my Dirt Tricks cam chain tensioner and I'm going to mount it next oil change.
Did you put your bike on the floor and raised the wheels while mounting it, to get it completely horizontal?

Thanks
Rickard
