hello! I have a husaberg fe 400 2000 model. I bought it 3 months ago, it has been running really well since, and I love the bike. However when I was changing oil I found a lot of metal in the oil screen. At the top the cam is worn out and the cam follower bearing is totally gone. cam chain looks good. cylinder looks ok, minor scratches. valves look ok. piston skirt is scratched up. main bearings and big end seems ok so far. primary gear on the crank shaft is missing a lot of metal. and the outer clutch basket is also filed down really bad. while I was trying to remove the flywheel with a flywheel puller the whole wheel snapped in two pieces. I pulled it right off and parts of it is still stuck to the crankshaft.(I know I should have used a center puller) The engine is still not partet, however it turns out that The repair cost of this engine has exceeded the value of a new one? Im a sad man.

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement engine? as long as it will fit in the frame i will be ok. I can have some brackets welded. I can't find any husaberg fe 400 engines

You can put a 400, 470, 501, or 600 in that frame.
And I don't know for sure...
but i think 2004-2008 engines will fit, or can be made to fit.

You're not the first to do that.

That point was crossed many years ago. My last rebuild was more expensive than the bike itself.

Have a go at finding a second hand one and drop the motor in, or use yours as a parts bike to another berg. As mentioned many of the motors of that era will fit.
