Hi guys I am back,

I have another question regarding my 2004 fe450.

Can someone shed some light on what my problem might be. So when I go from idle ( stand still or descending a hill under load etc ) and open the throttle quickly it wants to and sometimes does stall. If I tweak the throttle quickly I can pick up my revs and off I go.

The bike runs perfectly otherwise. It’s just annoying when you want to get on the throttle quickly. It has run perfectly before this started to happen.

Where is the best place to start?

Thanks

Brenden

adjust the pilot screw underneath the carb. you should have a warm engine with a lowish idle and then adjust this screw to whichever opening gives you the highest idle. then lower the idle to low again.
then do it again from there.
eventually, turning the PS either way will make the engine want to stall.
turn the engine OFF.
close the screw off counting the turns to close. record it, return it to aswas.
start the engine. close off slowly and record when it growls and when it stalls relative to being closed right off. it might growl at 0.75 turns and stall at .25 turns for example.
still warm. back in its tuned (by you) position, go ride at 5mph in first gear. snap the throttle and gradually open the screw to try and avoid the stall. it should be possible that it was OK anyway and didn't stumble or opening it .25 turn will do the trick.
another one that will cause this is a blocked PJ. a blocked air filter. tight tappets.

Thanks Taffy. I will start with that and hopefully it fixes the problem. Otherwise a carburettor service is on the cards.
