The technical adventures of Dr_C

the bike is fantastic but I feel a strange attraction that starter motor Dr_C :D

reminds me somehow of the longtail boats with prop shafts poked out the back

Not you too, Bushie! My starter motor have always stolen all the attention in the pits. Old farts get all misty eyed over the resemblance with an ignition bulb motor and the kids over the carbon muffler they couldn't afford after having spent all their savings on a CBR600... No one paid any attention to my Supermono! :( Boo-hoo. So, I thought I'd better build a spectacular bike to take peoples eyes off my starter motor. ;)

Maybe the next video will have a special guest star?

:D so deep down im an old fart LOL yes a guest star with the blingest muffler in da house

the new coolers should do a mighty job .. .if they are not enough I wonder if grooves in the OD of the liner might help with cooling

quite a bit more surface area although less water jacket volume but then people with more letters after their name than us say there is supposedly an advantage in increasing the "Q" :D

in any case my 700 runs cooler than the 100mm bore, makes more power and has similar AFR across the board.

Funny thing is that when it was 100mm bore, I had to put duct tape over the coolers to keep the temperature over 65 degC. We'll see what effect the new liners from Westwood will have. That increased cooling transfer area on the liner, would surely be a good alternative, but then I would have to make a 2-piece cylinder head spacer... or the whole thing (liner + spacer) in one-piece of steel!

Just sitting here, waiting for the valve buckets to return from DLC-coating. Season starts at the 15th of May...

interesting DR_C get the coffee ready ..

do you have an estimate how much thickness is typically added by the dlc?

I think this type of DLC will result in a layer 1-8 thousands of a millimeter thick. Hardness will be 2000-2800 HV.
Coffee will be black, without sugar.

That explains the strange squint he had in most of his films:eek:

I would have to reply as the doctor did in this little tale:

An 86-year-old man went to his doctor for his quarterly check-up...

The doctor asked him how he was feeling, and the 86-year-old said, 'Things are great and I've never felt better.'

I now have a 20 year-old bride who is pregnant with my child.
'So what do you think about that Doc ?'

The doctor considered his question for a minute and then began to tell a story.

'I have an older friend , much like you, who is an avid hunter and never misses a season.'

One day he was setting off to go hunting.

In a bit of a hurry , he accidentally picked up his walking cane instead of his gun.'

'As he neared a lake , he came across a very large male beaver sitting at the water's edge.

He realized he'd left his gun at home and so he couldn't shoot the magnificent creature.

Out of habit he raised his cane, aimed it at the animal as if it were his favorite hunting rifle and went 'bang, bang'.'

'Miraculously, two shots rang out and the beaver fell over dead.

Now, what do you think of that?' asked the doctor.

The 86-year-old said , 'Logic would strongly suggest that somebody else pumped a couple of rounds into that beaver.'

The doctor replied , 'My point exactly.'

How come race engines allways look like this when they are not running on full throttle? (Race day - 4)

To keep water where it should be, I have to put cotton sewing thread at specific places. Not very high tech, but it works! Test start tomorrow and then hopefully off for the races!

nice Dr_C i remember you mentioned this trick before

has containing the water been difficult with the MLS gasket ?

Sorry for a probably stupid question, but you are going to use a gasket?
The Multi Layer Steel (MLS) gasket is allready in place on the photo. I glued the cotton sewing threads on top of it.

However, all efforts were thrown away when the right side case cracked after 4 laps. Propably because the right main bearing seized. Fun. Indeed.
