as you may know, I can no longer get red coil for the 1989-1998 models.....sad! 
but I can get BLUE coils instead!
essentially, 'my' technician offered me the Blue coil saying that "the advance starts 300rpm earlier than the red - try it?" so I did and the idle went up 300rpm at idle which meant turning the idle back down 3/4 turn.
it rode perfectly, no faults, chugs along, just 100% spot on.
put the red coil of my 1998 FE600e back on it and lost the 300 revs at idle. idle screw back in 3/4 turn and all good.
I can get 10 of these blue coils.
