hi new member on bored, before i start just like to say great site good tips and wide range of knowledge & opinions.
now i think this may only ring true to uk riders, had a day off today so went to an bit of wast land near were i live old mining area no homes ect quite industrial only thing around is old railway yard and stone masons yard.bit of a track were youths ride there bikes .Not been back on bikes for a while so set a couple of practice drills to get used to full bike control IE brakes throttle clutch and balance& control, ok so 10 min into training over comes a 2nd bike makes his way over so politely as u do i stop pull over take my helmet off say hello ok the usual. He then responds wot u doing over ere ?.gives him the tale new bike just getting to grips ,been off said bikes for 10 years.he said "this is common land"
as a second bike joins him same color same make same cloths and now i notice on his friends helmet small letters POLICE ,not a problem i thought bikes legale insured ect .
back to common land he say "your not allowed over here" on a motor vehicle. (no signs saying so a kind of road which access said railway yard stone merchants ) ho right i said didn't think it was a problem ,no body around im not causing any problems,
So butch says to sundance wot do u think,r we bothering .now the one behind me must av been checking his scalps because the next thing u know the little book is out.IM GOING TO GIVE U A WARNING. "fair call" and a fixed penalty JUST TO PISS U OFF AND RUIN UR DAY my responce was not as friendly as my first greating.

Hi lplates we go on land above rochdale called rouley moor theres no house just the odd farm and quarry there is thousands of acres to go at but in the last few months the dibble have been up there usually three or four bikes a jeep a plane and occasionally a helicopter it must cost a fortune, they are good for a bit of fun but are pretty useless although they are supposed to have been trained by ady smith anything technical and they will retreat. If you get caught again they can take the bike off you.

Regards Darren

Hi yes so he enjoyed telling me dollar, to which i responded he better get a better bike and more back up ,i might be rusty but not dead yet ,he assured me if he had a pound,at this point i interupted his speach to leave laurel & hardy in my rooster tail while i was spitting feathers!

Just dont leave your truck any where near

They do the same here around the AT. People can ride their bloody horses anywhere they please but woe be unto you to even think about riding a dirtbike there. I had one h*** of a talk with a rabbit sheriff, who was firmly convinced I was going to ride there. I wouldn`t budge and he couldn`t make me move. So finally he left. ( I was working on a chest protector at the time) I can be slightly stubborn sometimes for some reason. I think if they open it for one they should open it for all. as long as they stay on the trails.

well bob you should have got the 'dibble' bit.

officer dibble? geddit? (top cat cartoon to anyone else not sure).

if you are on private land-you are trespassing but it's now a civil matter and up to the owner to complain and get you off. not the police. but if you are causing a noise or a nuisance they can chase you for that.

remember britian is overcrowded. you won't believe it. try thinking hong kong next time...

if it's common land the police can't touch you and infact they can't do anything unless again you've broken a different law like noise or threatening behaviour etc.

our legal trails are called RUPPs or Byways. (roads used as private paths) and when you are on them your bike has to be as legal as it would on the M25.

we found some private land at thetford some 4/5 years ago and anglian water didn't mind us riding on it. next door was some crown land (which means the government owned it or prince charles whatever) and they said that they couldn't touch us for riding on the land but that they'd had a complaint about the noise from someone down the road.

they said they wanted us closed as all the local yobs were bringing stolen cars to the site so they put dirt across the gateway and a barrier on their side of tha land.

we were all vague about the law and the police's powers and in the end it wasn't worth the hassle.
