The Old Husaberg's which ones are good and which ones should not be bought?

I am thinking about buying an older Husaberg from the 90's or 2000's, but I would rather avoid one model if there is a bad year.

Does somebody knows which years are better than others??

I recently found a 1997, a 1999 and a 2000 for sale, cheap and look good, old school ;-)

PS: I know that the older ones didn't have an oilpump. When did they start to put an oil pump? Are the model without really not reliable?

Thanks for you information about these older Berg.

I like them all. The oil pump was introduced in 1997. The 97 and 98 are mostly similar except the graphics, color of the hubs and seat cover. The 2000 was the last model year for the first generation motor which equates to the highest level of development. The 2000 was also the first year for the new style frame, plastics and graphics.

The 97 had the Ohlins shock. In 98 and up they used ***********.

There are always small differences that seem to pop up. Like in 97 the cylinder did not use a dowel to line up the head. I think in 99 they started using a dowel.

I think the reliability is pretty good. The stator is a weak point with all 2003 and earlier Bergs. The first generation motors use a bit of oil, only hold a litre and do not have a sight glass to easily check the level. Check and change your oil often.
