what a peice of crap!

two things have drawn me to that conclusion.

firstly, whilst i don't expect to use an old headgasket, i certainly don't expect a headgasket to rely on a band of blue crap around the outside that you can rub off with your hand!!! i have had cause on a job to use a hedgasket three times in three days as i tried to get over a ring problem which i will tell you all about sometime.....but not yet!

the surfaces were cleaned up and the gasket re-used but it's gone - you know, had it! i mean that is rubbish - right? all the blue band had rubbed or fallen off!

but another thing made me think this....

i dropped the coolant at the W/P housing and then went to the top hose which i removed completely. what should be staring at me?.............. the coolant! so how come it can't fall out the head and through to the W/P housing?

and then you look at it again and this is where i ask a question (and not a rhetorical one as above).... why have that huge water jacket if all you have is 8 drilled holes in the headgasket? why the restriction? what's the reason?

so has anyone like bushie or weed had a look and had a think about this?

why? that's what i want to know! why? :( :( :(

ha why weeds and bushies would know Im not sure ?

i don't like the lil oles prmarilly because the top of the cases between the lil oles and under the gasket is corroded. the head doesn't push down on the gasket between the lil oles so its not sealed and not in the nice coolant.

cut out the oles in the gasket and see what happens I guess, restriction will be the same from the "block" it might be something to do with holding the crappy fibre together ?

the blue stuff came flying out the sides at 55N.m I think its supposed to that.

Ive got this tube of black 3bond ccase joiner stuff from orangeberg and on it it says summink about being used on aluminium head gaskets. might allow the old gaskets to be used if the fire ring is still working ok.

I dunno either taffy. maybe the restriction is good for something but it need not be in the gasket is what im thinking.

what does Ben ballard do with his head gaskets? says he makes a 100mm one.

pic shows what looks like a gasket with holes cut out sitting ontop of teh cases. if you zoom in you see its just goo but you get what im on about I hope.
