As an introduction I'm a KTM guy right now and am interested in a new bike this fall. One complaint I have of my current scoot (2006 525 MXC) is what I feel to be sub par traction with nasty climbs. As compared to the linkage bikes I ride with anyway. Whats your thought on traction with this new bike. I ride single track, nasty uphills, downhills, ect.

I guess I have a good idea the handling is great, the motor electric., and EFI spot on. But how about that back wheel on the rocks, roots, and ruts?

Thanks folks......

Hi Jason,

And welcome to the site.

I have 3 berg's at the moment, an 01 an 04 and my 09. The 09 is, of course, quite a bit different than the other two, and the 09 in stock trim has good traction out of the box, and is very good at the tight technical stuff.

I think you would be very pleased with an 09 570 as compared with your 525.

The key to any good suspension system is proper set up. What have you done with your 06?

Sub par traction is a big problems almost all large open class dirt bikes with 50 plus HP. You just cant get enough weight on that rear wheel to hook of the hp's its putting out. And when they do hook up on steep hill climbs, they want to flip. Its a double edged sword.
I just parted out my KX500. You talk about a bike with traction problems. Fun bike, no traction. All the rear wheel ever did was spin, even with a fly wheel weight.

Traction

I have had the suspension worked up by precision concepts for desert work. A bit over valved perhaps. I guess my concern is the lack of a linkage. I think with current suspension technology linkless is still lacking in certain situations. That's not say the linkless can't be perfected. It can. I guess I'm asking how this radically new bike works in the conditions I've outlined. I believe the old rfs design is lacking. How about the berg.
