I just wanted to say a big THANKS to those who keep this site going.

I have a '99 FE501 which is my very first motorcycle. Being a neophyte to the dirtbike scene, I sort of got in a little over my head with the berg...at first. In light of this I must say that those who frequently post on this site are quite knowledgable (friendly and funny as well) and have helped keep my spirits up even when the berg has let me down.

Thanks to all who contribute to this great site...gosh, I guess I need to post a little more and throw in my two cents (this is my first one)
:D

RE: thank you sir may I have another!

hi lyb,

Glad the site works for you, and you get something out of it. I'm sure that whatever you run across, it's happened before, and you should be able to find help here.

The guys here have kept more bergs on the road than all the 'official' mechanics combined :)

thanks,
json

Littleyellowbat,

a husaberg was my first bike as well- a 98 fe600e. I had ridden a KTM 525 for about 6 months prior but that was a friends second hand "scrap" bike. This site has been as much help as having your own personal husa mechanic right there with you. welcome to the force

Jared

Hi LYB:

No matter what brand of dirt bike you choose to ride they all require maintenance. Don't do the maintenance and things start going downhill. The other half of owning a dirt bike equation is working on it. For me it is quite therapeutic to work on the bike until I get it right (sometimes it takes awhile).

The 1999 Berg was a good bike.

Welcome to the site.

yes, thank you all.

I agree, thank you to all of the fellow enthusiasts here. I too have picked up my first Husaberg and while my first move on any new to me bike is tear it down and go through everything before really riding it. The posts in this site have given me a direction to go and a lot in insite on what problems to look for. With the info you guy's share here will make sure my ride rips and that to me is priceless :D :D . Thanks again. When Bozarth offroad is done with the engine updates I'll let you know how it goes.

If I had my go again I'd prefer a '99 over my '98, but the '98 is still likely the best bike I'll ever have, especially in the counterbalanced e-start garb. I understand yours has PDS suspension and the later cover-mounted stator, or did that come in for 2000?

Cripes Jared! You sure like starting on the larger end of the scale. What the hell do you intend to upsize to??? 8O

My 02 has the pds shock and the stator mounted on the ignition cover. From what I have picked up here these were 2000 model year changes, I could be wrong.

Awesome bike!!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

I have had my berg for 2 yrs now. It has been quite a ride, and learning experience. Through the many suggestions/advice on this site I have kept a keen eye on the critical items that seem to come up often concerning preventative maintenance. So far the Husaberg experience has been a good one overall.

One of the best parts of owning a berg is being confident that you can absolutly SMOKE just about anyone else out there on the trails!!

Cant wait for it to warm up...just a little.

Tell me about it... I used to get arm pump so bad trying to stay on the damn thing :D

Actually i am a fairly big guy 280lbs w/gear so in order to haul my butt around and actually have fun i decided i needed a bigger bike to start with (why buy small and then buy bigger within a year?...). well.... i have upgraded if you can call it that...to an '02 fc470e. It has plenty of power for my level of expertise. I figure in a couple of years i will go back to a bigger bike and pick up a used '05 650. I do miss the top end speed of that 600 though :(
