why don't we post our opinions here on test rides we've had on rival machinery and be honest about it as well....

i rode three machines on saturday:

WR250 with leccy boot!
medium 'throwability', very driveable and usable at low revs with good power. everything was nice really, low seat height. started easily, no glitches.

beta 250
gutless, but a bit of top end. high seat, suspension absorbed big hits but poor LS. bike is an '06. brakes good.

honda something or other 230
great bike, great for novice on slopes, not the first one you ego will let you jump on but you KNOW your going to reach the top of the gulley with this bike! funny thing is: go through a stream and expect little vision for a minute as the kettle doesn't just boil - it explodes!

WHY?

I concur with your observation on the wr250, that is a bike that is very high on my list (to own), I just wish it would loose a few lbs.

RE: Re: testing different bikes...

I recently rode a 2007 Yamaha YZF250F. Sweet and light handling. Nice power, to boot. Yet, when the speed got high, it still kicked -- I am guessing the bad of the light handling coming back to bite! I don't like the funny long seat from the steering head to the rear fender...but it worked...

Heck, I remember when I first rode a Husky 500CR in 1985, it was a duck, too...but once you spent time with it , it was a-ok. It was easy to ride fast and feel confident while doing so...not anything I have felt with any of the Japanese bikes I have had.

Just get one and ride, a 'Berg that is...
