Te250 and Fe501, advice please...

Hi and good morning from sunny Serbia.

I would be gratefull of some advice concerning these two bikes. I have been offered heavily discounted and new a Te250 2014 and an Fe501 2013. The price is very similar for both.

Looking to enter my first enduro later this month with more to come, so a complete novice. But also looking to use the bike for longer off road mountain trips. Weekends away. Serbia and surrounding countries are perfect for this. etc.

Currently i own a Ktm1190 which i will be keeping. Im 6ft/183cm and 207lbs/93kgs if that makes a difference.

Are there any major differences between the 2013 and 2014 Fe501.

The 250 will be more suited to enduro riding, and the 501 will be more suited to the faster stuff, but it is not to say that they can't be used for both.

I would say maybe the 501 would be better choice, mostly since I don't think 2stroke bike is ideal for doing longer trips, but it would also depend on how long exactly your trip is. First thing to think of is the range. I'm not 100% certain, but I think 250 will give maybe 80 to 100km on tank of fuel, and the 501 maybe 120km or more? these are not exact figures, but more a guideline on what to consider when making your choice.

For enduro riding, the 250 is about 104kg(dry) I think, and the 501 maybe 113kg, so for that the 250 may be better. But I know people who are happy doing enduro riding with big four strokes.
