I'm sure this is an old subject with ya'll, but since I'm new to the site as well as a new Berg owner I thought I'd shoot IMS and Clarke an E-mail reguarding our need for a large tank.

"Do you intend to produce tanks for Husabergs anytime in the future? Now that '06 Bergs have a redisigned (& smaller!) fuel tanks, it seems that potentially more owners will find the need for more fuel capacity. If a new tank were produced it woud fit the 2000 to at least 2006 models and probably future models in years to come as the '00-'05 and '06 only require different radiator shrouds to interchange. Would a "group buy" scenario help persuade production? And at last, PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! COME ON! I'll be your best friend!

IMS' response:
Hi there,

Unfortunately, we have no plans to make a tank for the Husabergs. Last I heard, to have a custom tank made, there is a 100 tank purchase minimum, as well as somebody stepping up and paying a $10,000 start up fee (for time and materials) to create the mold. I know we haven't had much interest in a tank for this bike, which probably is the reason that we don't have one to begin with. Sorry about that. Thanks for your email!

Clarke's response:
We have had several request. It is on the list we just have more to do than time available.

Thank you,

Clarke Mfg.

I love these rotating topics.

. the big tank
. my husaberg does not start
. part availabilities

among others.

Thanks for spending the time sending emails, although some may disagree, I think it's a good thing to send them to remind the manufacturers that we're here and that we are interested in a new product.

Thanks for contacting clarke. I too have contacted them in the past and despite what others might say, I think that if over time enough Husaberg owners contact them they will produce what is in demand.

I spent a couple of years begging the companies to make a tank for my Husky 4 strokes back in the 90's to no avail. I at least had the option of buying the bulbous, $600+, factory tank that took a year and a half to get after ordering it.

I wish the factory would step up and have one produced. I for one wouldn't mind paying a premium for an OEM tank if they had exclusive distribution like Husky had on the Acerbis tank. It would show a great deal of commitment by the company to the Husaberg brand and owners!

I've pretty much resigned myself to using a Acerbis front number plate tank for the times that I do need the extra fuel which isn't very often.

Or you can get the Husaberg underseat tank, which would add fuel capacity of .75 gallons I believe and bring the total for pre 06 bikes up to 3.1 gallons. You do have to modify the CDI box mount/location, and there is a couple of threads on this subject. One guy even made a mount set up that bolts on above the starter solenoid.

joeusa has one fitted to a later model. go to his gallery to see the photos. he also has instructions there as well.

regards

Taffy

That statement is more correct than you could ever imagine.

OH! DO TELL! DO TELLLLL! :bounce:

The more that different people,(not the same guy over and over), call, the more notice that bike gets. They do keep count of the calls that come in and it does help decide the build order.
