Tank swap will it work

I have a chance to pick up a tank for my 1995 Fe 501, the tank being sold is off of an 1996 Fc 501, I'm pretty sure the mounting is the same, but I'd like to be sure. It's of little value if the capacity is smaller. but if they're the same, I'll probably get it.

my 2 cents;
there are two tank styles. type 1 has has two petcock which are both about the carb level line. i think thats the true fc tank. type 2 has a vaccumm pump that gets the gas to the other side which has the petcock and thats above the carb level line. the two are not interchangeable without modifing the 'bumper' that hold it in place. they would probably need to be rewelded on.
