I'm going to do a 1 week, 700 mile trail ride and need to buy a tank bag or saddle bags etc... Any suggestions would be appretiated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks kelsow!

Does anyone have a picture of thier DS setup, panniers etc?

Kzoo,
Do you know who owns the bike in the pics. That looks like a great setup but would like to ask a couple of questions. That is what I would need to do the Trans america trail. 2500 miles you need to take some stuff besides what will fit in a backpack and fanny pack.
We do some point to point stuff here and its always a pain to carry your stuff in a pack. Plus I bet you could put 2 gallons of fuel in the side bags in delo bottles to increase your range. I hate to carry it on a belt.

I would look at tank bags for ATVs and other bags you can find in Dennis Kirk. For saddlebags I would get some for a horse. They come in different sizes so finding what you need shouldn`t be a problem. Would have to modify them so that they can be mounted to stay. I have a set I use on my streetbike and can also use them on my dirtbike as well.

That's my 400 in the pictures. I just put the bags on real quick to see how they fit. You don't have to use the tail bag with the saddle bags. The tail bag has bungie(s) that are hidden in a pouch underneath the bag. The bags also have neoprene that "should" help prevent your plastic from getting all scratched up, but after all it's just plastic... They're easy to mount, you just have to be a little creative. :D The bags have straps and bungie(s) on them so you need to find hookup points on the bike. Not a big deal on the 'bergs since the subframe extends all the way to the end of the fender.

I bought these for a ride that I'm doing in June, 700 miles of single track and we'll be camping along the way.

We're starting the ride June 26th... There's still room!

Jason,

Now how do you suppose your gonna get that map into a role chart??? 8O

Looks to be a great ride, happy riding mate.

Regards,

The CCC publishes a map book for it's members. The clup rides every maintained trail in the state with a GPS and then prints it out on maps of sections of the state, so I have a book of every maintained trail in the state! :D

Also, the CCC will send you a CD that you can load into a GPS that will show the route for this ride along with gas, hotels, hospitals etc...
