I'd say it is at least an inch taller right near the front, maybe a bit more. It does not have as severe a dip in it as the stock seat does. This makes it really easy to move forward on the seat, as well as giving you some more leg room.
As far as soft/hard, mine was softer than stock--too soft really. I sat on one of the other guy's tall seats at Moab, and his was about the same firmness as stock. It was a Husaberg factory seat as well. So, I don't know if they switched foam vendors or what, but his was much better than mine.
I have since switched to a Gut's Racing tall firm foam. It is perfect. I did re-use the black tall cover from the factory tall seat. I doubt the factory blue cover will go--mine is trimmed pretty close.
I'd go with a Guts foam. They do seat covers too. Call them up and see if they can do a gripper cover in blue, if that is what you want. I think the black looks better anyway.
