tall bar mounts - made of cheese?

fitted the factory tall bar mount kit two months ago and in the first fall the bent the corners up on one side and in the second they ripped all the thread out. then yesterday they ripped the other thread clean out.

TURNS OUT THE BOLTS ONLY THREAD INTO THE FIRST PART OF THE HOLES!!!!!

anyway, my partial cure on the left was to fit a cylinder stud in instead. when I get the two holes helicoiled I'll use studs both sides but the alloy blocks are way too soift and the bolts too short.

poor quality Husaberg!

The blocks are not too soft, the bolts are too short. All on you for not noticing that two months ago or the first time it failed. I was assured they would work on the billet triple clamps on my FS. They didn't fit. They rocked and wouldn't saddle up like they're spost to. Had to file an ECH off the saddle part to make it fit. Get all that done and the bolts only went in to the triple about 5-6 threads.

I searched all over town for longer low shoulder socket screws.I ordered 70mm and waited bout 10 days for them, only to have to buy a 10mm die to cut the threads a bit more up the bolt.
They are blavk oxide and take a 8mm key instead of 7mm. They stick out the bottom, I didn't cut them because I was fed up, and I may want to go higher.

I just now measured my lower bar clamps, they are about 36 mm from the bottom to the middle of the bar. (That's the only way I could measure them)

If your clamps are the same, and you have 20mm risers you'll need 60mm bolts. That should get you through the triple and have a few threads showing underneath.

That husaberg or ktm part is a repackaged enduro engineering riser im sure. Also sure I wish I had bought the $90 complete kit from KTM,' its the blingy gold one with an assortment of nesting oval risers and top and bottom clamps.) I've got about $65 in my risers, bolts, and 10mm die. I would have gladly spent another 25 bux...

I went with the ROX 2" riser setup and love it. The only issue is that they can twist up on a good "tip over" but IMHO that saves all your other components and it's a quick loosen/straighten/re-tighten and you're back on your way.

2" is too tall for many so that only if you're well over 6' tall in my opinion...but the bolts are plenty long on the up side!

My answer is to have my engineer make some for me. the idea is that they are 15mm longer and hang over the plinths on the top clamp/yoke and press onto the leading and tail edge of the clamp. The front bolt hole will still be used as well so there is nothing that will have any 'give' I hope. the weak point will be where the bar clamp tapers in underneath.

I'm having the new clamps made 30mm tall instead of 20mm and this allows me to use the cylinder studs without touching the thread. they'll screw into helicoiled clamps with over 25mm of thread. I'm taking 1.8mm out of the bolt head's 'seat' for the allen screw's head so that I can use the full allen socket strength to tighten or loosen.

I've also had the underside of the bar clamps skimmed flat as in both incidents they have taken a slightly curved/tapered surface on....

agree with both of you! I'm a 'get on wirrit' type so the mounts are made and the helicoiling is done. off for a weekend in the Brecons and all suited and booted so perhaps another time hey!
