Where ever we park the motorhome, USA
When planning his trip, Taffy had asked to see the Grand Canyon while visitting. So we had planned to drive there on Sunday on the route home.
Well, by Sat, Taffy was having so much fun riding, he decidied to forego the Grand Canyon for an extra day of riding. I told him that was fine. So we stayed an extra day.
Fryguy, the Canadians, and Taffy went to ride Poison Spider. I went with Huskyrider, EuroEnduro, and 2 others to ride the Green River area; White Wash. Incredible terrain. Huge slickrock mounds, hundreds of feet high. Incredible traction to climb unbelievable angles. What an experience!
We rode until sundown. We went back to get Taffy from the RV park and load his gear, then we started the long drive home; so Taffy thought. What he didn't know, was that we decidied to drive through the night to get to the Grand Canyon. We arrived at about 2 a.m. and parked in a gas station and waited for the sun to rise.
When the sun rose, we wshed our faces, grabbed a couple breakfast burritos, then drove into the park. Taffy had no concept of the size of the Grand Canyon. When we stopped at the first northern most out look ( where the canyon is the smallest), he was impressed by the enormity and depth. He took a couple of snap shots and said"So that's it. Home we go, right?" No. 2 more stops and he says the same thing. By the 4th stop, the canyon starts to really widen, and so do Taffy's eyes. By the 7th, he is sure that he has seen it all, and he is shocked when I reply, "You've seen about half, the widest and deepest is still yet to come." We ate lunch, then went back to continue his tour. By 90 minutes later, his eyes had absorbed the equivalent of a 12 course meal. He was impressed and overwhelmed at the same time.
We gave him the best of both, all the riding he could do, and all the sightseeing that he had wished for. We just dropped him off at the airport, and he is already talking about the next Force Ride.
Wished him a safe flight and there were no "good byes", we all said 'see you soon.'
He will be back.
