Yes you do, as long as you are careful about what you are saying in your comments. You need to know that not everyone is going to accept your comments or advise as being accurate and especially when you can't back it up with 'facts'. Facts as known only by you are "opinions".

I don't need your permission to use 'the oil', and I want to see your 'facts' so start producing some. Again, the Internet is the biggest encyclopedia of all time. I'm sure you can find SOMETHING to back up your claims. You know, like I did?

And while we are on that subject, polska asked you for the exact same thing: facts. You use that word a lot FE350: 'facts'. Let's see them. Put up or shut up. If you can't see that you have absolutely no business being on this or any other discussion forum because you don't seem to understand the unspoken rules...."pics or it didn't happen". Have you heard that before?

So show us your facts about "diesel" oil will destroy a gas engine (even though said "diesel" oil has an API rating saying it is acceptable for use in gasoline engines).

Show us 'facts' that using that very same "diesel" oil in a motorcycle or gas powered automobile will void the warranty, even when that "diesel" oil has the exact API ratings and viscosity rating that said manufacturer has specified to use in the vehicle.


There's more but let's start there FE350. Let's SEE YOUR EVIDENCE.

If you don't want me, or anyone else for that matter to view you as a troll it's time to "put your money where your mouth is" and show us all these 'facts' you keep saying over and over in your posts.

And FYI, if you are going to quote another users post, refute what that user has said, and not have any actual facts to back up your ****, then you are the very definition of what an internet troll is.

FE350, I can see that you aren't understanding what I asked for. Let me give you an example:

Question: is Shell Rotella T6 "diesel" oil acceptable for use in gasoline engines? Answer:

See in the first photo "gasoline engines". This oil has received the API rating "SM". The answer is YES THIS OIL IS AS GOOD AS ANY RECEIVING THE SERVICE RATING "SM".

Next question: is Shell Rotella T6 exceptable for use in a 2007 BMW K1200GT motorcycle?

This is from a 07 BMW K1200GT owners manual. API service rating "SG" and JASO "MA", viscosity 10W-40 is what the manufacturer has specified. Any oil receiving this (or higher) service level is acceptable to BMW and will not void the warranty.

Here we have what the service ratings mean and note the wording

"For automotive engines the latest ILSAC standard or API Service Category INCLUDES THE PERFORMANCE PROPERTIES OF EACH EARLIER CATEGORY AND CAN BE USED TO SERVICE OLDER ENGINES WHERE EARLIER CATEGORY OILS WERE RECOMMENDED..."

So S(H-I-J-K-M -N) can all be used to replace the obsolete category "SG".

For the JASO MA rating required for the 07 BMW, go back to photo #1 T6 oil specs.
Under "specifications, approvals, and ratings" you will find JASO: DH2, MA.

And so Shell Rotella T6 meets the following specifications and ratings:
05W-40 viscosity
API SM
JASO MA

So the answer to the second question: YES, Shell Rotella T6 MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR BMW TO NOT VOID THE WARRANTY.

Now that you have an example of how to present FACTS on an Internet discussion forum, it's all yours. You can use photos of Internet google searched genuine API and A&S cycles, an authorized BMW dealer kind enough to provide free owners manual downloads) websites like I have, or you can provide Internet address links, or you can even Cut and Paste, ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN BLAH-BLAH-BLAH WORDS COMING OUT OF YOUR BRAIN. Because those convince no one about anything my friend.

Balls in your court. Let's see some facts. If you don't know how at this point you have absolutely no business trying to refute anything that someone else says on the internet because once again, the definition of an Internet troll is someone who starts stating BS and refuting someone else's opinions with no facts.

So take the time and pick up a phone and call a dealership and ask them if your machine still has its warranty after using a diesel oil and see what they say. They will tell you to use THE APPROVED oil that they told you to use when you purchased the machine not that it must say JASO and or API but what they recommended as some manufactures have their own standard that aftermarket oil companies latter add to their company. One is Dexos and GM. Only GM sold the oil and if you didn't use it then your warranty was void and that's fact buddy. Nobody made this oil but GM who added the additive. Now Pennzoil and others make it. but I guess you listened to the advise form forum site users over the product manufacture who actually gives the warranty *******. It is fact that Commercial Diesel oils such as Rotella have special additives for compression engines that run cooler over spark engines that are lower and hotter. They have additives that create a coating on cylinder walls and will allow blow by on spark engine. This is fact. I am not going to continue to try and force this down your throat, I just wanted to give advise to other users such like you who read something and fly to it and ensure they know the reasons diesel oils are rated for diesels. I also made note that saving a dollar can cost you in the long run. You can not replace quantity for quality and you get what you pay for is all and that's fact also.



Oh and who to you is a bonafide source the internet what is made up of peoples ideas and mostly lies, I bet you believe in all the spam sales pitches your inbox gets? Talk to your dealer and or the manufacture as that is who will give you the correct info, not a bunch of guys testing different ideas. Yes you might win and find a oil like Rotella that works but mostly you will find issues. Something that came up earlier was Recluse giving advise on using diesel oil. Allot of people used the oil but without concern that the manufacture might have an issue as they trusted Recluse. Well the fact that Recluse screwed up and no longer will recommend this shows you something. Why does Recluse no longer advise this? Liability is why. A small company like Recluse does not have the resources to test and study the outcomes as it would put them in the red, so they do fast test and go with it without concern until one person has an issue and the dealer makes a note of an issue. Guessing and experimenting will sometimes get results but can also be costly and this I my main point. I don't want to see any new users on this forum screw something up based on a guess. I will give advise from my eyes to give an option as well and will not stop giving my advise based on you telling me to, so you can F off to buddy.

Go read my latest post in polska's oil thread. I took your suggestion, I called the dealership where I bought my latest bike. Sorry but your contention is not what I was told at all. I was told I can do my own service using and I quote "...any brand oil with the API service rating and JASO rating as stated in your owner's manual including oils with diesel ratings. It just must conform to the API and JASO."

Just as I thought.

I think anyone questioning FE350's ideas regarding voiding warranty can call their own dealer and undoubtably receive the same basic info I just got. Maybe not if you unfortunately bought your vehicle at whatever dealership FE350 works at as they seem to be kind of a shady pass-the-buck rip-off outfit with no honor/integrity [emoji848][emoji33][emoji24]

I gave you opportunity to make things right between us, I think I've proven my point to anyone paying attention, and I'm still waiting for the proof you don't have to show you aren't a troll. Now for facts. I change my oil every few hours and every third change gets a filter and with the best quality oil and parts. Some might think this is a waste and stupid but others might follow and have good experiences such as I. I have never had an engine failure or major issues with a bike. This goes for everything from my Harley right through my Husa. I have a 05 Honda 250x that everyone rides and this machine just had its first valve adjustment in 2014 and still runs as new. What does this say? I am having great success with the techniques I use. And yes I use the recommended oils the manufacture states.

GOOD FOR YOU, IM HAVING GREAT RESULTS WITH MY BIKES ALSO. THE '96 BMW R1100RS I BOUGHT USED WITH 12K MILES I HAD UNTIL '14 I PUT ALMOST 50K MILES ON IT, CHANGED OIL AT EITHER ONE YEAR OR 6K MILES. NEVER HAD A SINGLE THING GO WRONG WITH IT IN 13 YEARS. THAT BIKE WILL PROBABLY BE GOOD FOR 100K+ MILES, I KUST WANTED TO UPGRADE OR I WOULD STILL HAVE IT. IT GOT ROTELLA T6 BECAUSE I LIKED HOW THAT WORKED IN MY '95 F800 FLATBED. POR THING GETS OUL CHANGED ABOUT EVERY 10-12K. THE DONKEY FORKLIFT ON THE BACK IS ALSO DIESEL. GETS SERVICED EVERY 50 HOURS WHICH IS 20 MORE THAN RECOMMENDED. THIS STUFF HAS A JOB TO DO AND IT GETS SERVICED WHEN THERE IS TIME. THE ROTELLA HELPS KEEP IT ALL GOOD DESPITE MY LACK OF SETVICING IT AS IT SHOULD BE. I DONT NEED A LECTURE ON THAT EITHER, IM A BIG BOY AND I MAKE BIG BOY DECISIONS LIKE ALL BUSINESS OWNERS MUST.



Some will take advise and some will not, but the fact is that it is giving advise is a good thing as it gives others who do not know help. So call me what you like but those who I have actually helped will say different.

Maybe if you went back and actually read what was said in Polska's oil thread maybe you would see that I wasn't saying your advice was wrong, it is the "safe" way to go. Also expensive. Maybe an expense that doesn't pay back, maybe it does. You approached your argument like YOU are the last word on the subject, I didn't ever portray that like you did. So why don't you show a little tolerance for others FE350. Because if you look over your post before you commit it to the universe looking for some of those words that beg to be disputed, you just might discover that others will take less offense to you.

Last time: friends? Can you possibly see that you "stepped on my toes" on this one? That you started it? If you can't there isn't much hope for you to not get in more confrontations here besides me and Taffy. Rainerio, who BTW has met me, summed it up pretty well. LMAO, Well the fourty years in the construction trade sure didn't serve you well. Had to post pictures of a old 5k truck and forklift. This tells me nothing other than you are proud and trying to prove something lol. Well my friend lol, I retired my trucking business that I had while also retiring my personal career and yes I had trucks also, actually we owned one of the largest trucking companies in Canada but I downsized when my DAD retired as I wanted to do other things, So we used a ton of oil lol, but they were more on the lines of real heavy trucks "Equipment haulers" so yes I also as you are a big truck driver lol but real big :) As for you putting your size at me lmao what are you trying to prove? Bulling me into an apology? Get real my friend this is not a bar fight. This is a discussion based on a opinion and as I said prior. My opinion is mine and some might use it and others might not and that is fact. Also the fact I have received a ton of pm's about topics and advise is also fact, but I don't need to copy and paste these as I have nothing to prove to you.

About using diesel oil in your bikes I actually contacted DELO and one of their oil technicians about using diesel oil in our bikes and he said he'd heard about Harley riders using it etc but said he wasn't so sure about us using it in smaller cc bikes bcause of ash problems but said it was certainly interesting that people do use it. I can get the email up if need be he explains the pros and cons better then I can and maybe we can put that issue to bed.
 
Ok, at least I have enough class to have tried to have this come out in the win column for both of us, long shot that it was. Oh well.

So I'm trying a Golden tyre fatty on the front of my Berg, it's freakin huge! After 1 quick ride I like it. Anybody else try one?

My sister uses them and thinks they are the best. I am using the Mitas but thinking of changing up. I also have been looking into trials tires as allot here are on that kick. Have you been on pavement with it and if so, how does it feel?

I did ride it on the road to the trail, but just putted as it doesn't have a plate. It is a nice twisty road and it felt okay with about 13lbs in it.

I like the MT43 on the rear of less powerful bikes. You can see the KTM on the trailer has one. They just don't hook up on more powerful bikes IMO, especially in all the sand we ride out here.

Thanks for the info on the MT43 as that was something I was looking at. I still might try it as we don't have the sand issue and allot of rocky stuff. So thinking this might work well climbing the hills on the shale?

I love the MT43 on tight slower paced technical stuff. I run one on my KDX200 and my GF on her KTM 250rfs and it grabs onto rocks and loose terrain surprisingly well. I'll likely try one on the 300 next. IMO the only negative on tight ST is that in looses traction braking down steep loose hills sooner than a knobby, but it works so well everywhere else, including climbing, it's not a deal breaker for me. It's great that it's DOT legal, and also wears like iron.

Not surprisingly as a trials type tire it isn't my choice for the open desert. It doesn't hook up well in the sand or in fast corners when pushed hard at higher speeds-where I like to run higher pressures. It does well when ridden with finesse, like a trials rider, not a ham fisted MX or desert goon, (which I am getting too old to be).
