I know you must be a bit fed up with all this, but could you please tell me some stuff that i need help with please.
1st i have just got a fcr 39 from a yam the later type with hot start, can you give me a part no for the stub that bolts onto the rear for joining carb to air boot
2nd do you know if the o/e Husaberg cables will fit as my yam ones are frayed and i remember reading that they are a bit long.
3rd can you tell me if i have got this correct
170MJ
ELQ@C4
38PJ
100PAJ
85 starter
this is something i wrote down a while ago that i think you posted to another forum member, just checking its still good
one other thing is it possible to bore the 39 to 41 and if so is it just a straight bore job or is it a bit technical.
many thanks, i did try the search thingy but just got all messed up in me head, as i am sure i will with the whole carb thing

ALL YOU DO IS CALL ALLINS PERFORMANCE AND ASK FOR THE STUB. ASK FOR IT AT THE SAME DIAMETER AS THE HUSEY ONE AND THEY WILL TURN IT DOWN ON THE LATHE BEFOPRE SENDING IT ON TO YOU. ASK FOR A SMALL LIP AT THE BACK EDGE THAT WILL KEEP THE SOCK ON BETTER.
2nd do you know if the o/e Husaberg cables will fit as my yam ones are frayed and i remember reading that they are a bit long. I'M SURE THE HUSEY CABLES FIT THE CARB BUT YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE THROTTLE STUB AS WELL PROBABLY. I HAD TOO.
3rd can you tell me if i have got this correct
170MJ (NO-I WOULD GO TO A 162MJ AND YOU COULD GO LOWER SO 162 IS DEFINATELY SAFE ENOUGH I'M SURE)
ELQ@C4 (CORRECT. WHY NOT BUY A DMS FOR BETTER BOTTOM END WHILST LOSING LITTLE UP TO 3/4 THROTTLE?)
38PJ (CORRECT)
100PAJ (BUY THE PILOT AIR SCREW AND ADJUST IT OUT TO 3/8 OR 1/2 TURN OUT FROM CLOSED-OR BUY THE 75PAJ)
85 starter (#80 IF YOU CAN FROM A YAMAHA DEALER LIKE BAVINS)

one other thing is it possible to bore the 39 to 41 and if so is it just a straight bore job or is it a bit technical. (I APPEAR TO BE THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS DONE IT THROUGH MY ENGINEER. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT. I NOW HAVE THE HOME MADE TAPER AND SPIGOTS TO DO THE JOB. NO BULL-IT IS DIFFICULT. COST ME £50 LAST TIME BUT I THINK NOW THE TOOLS ARE THERE IT WOULD COST £30. YOUR JETTING WOULD BE NIGH ON IDENTICAL AS WE'RE LEAVING YOUR MJ SLIGHTLY RICH HERE AT PRESENT. YOU DO HOWEVER NEED A 41MM FOR THE 550)

choke jets are omnly vailable through non allins so go to yamaha and get the needle and the starter jet there. if you have any problems then maybe bavins still have my old orders up on the screen. they are anodised and toughened!

hope this helps

DQR = WR426 part # = is 5GS-14916-DQ
EKR = YZ426 part # = 5JG-14916-EK

these are yamaha part numbers.

Taffy many thanks
If i can follow you on this i am looking forward to getting it all sorted, had a local engineer [friend] look at me 39 soon to be 41 so looks like lucks on my side.
when you helped me with my wr yam the local shop got a microfiche slide for the wr so they can order all me jets /needle etc normally overnight.
i am lucky that we live in a small town that still works allot of things in favours if you know what i mean, nods as good as a wink and all that.
the guy that looked at it said he may even make the stub bit for me, thing is it will probely be faster if i buy one from allens.
thanks for your inspiration.

we had an absolute blast on tuesday it was hot and the tyres got to temperature after two or three laps.
we had loads of road going tards with us and every one rode well with no nasty crashes.
I felt good and on form and as for me 16 year old son well his riding is now better than mine :(

I just have to find an evening free to get me bike on the dyno so as to record the delorto readings.
I am still waiting for the choke jet and me cables for the fcr so nothing to report as yet.

FOUND AN EVENING SPARE

:( Taffy
i found an evening spare phoned me mate with the dyno he picked me and my bike up and off to his dyno room we went, arrived at his shop and both him and i gave the 550 a thrash up and down the lane outside his workshop just to warm it up as you do.
went inside stuck it on the dyno ran it up to about 3500 rpm and BANG it seized up, so i still ain't got my carb reading for us to look at yet.

I am looking at a lot of money to fix the motor so it may be a few weeks before we can play again.

I will stick some pics of the inside of a dead berg in my gallery.
