I just purchased a jet kit from taffys ebay store a road/track jet kit after a few emails back and forth on jetting specs and a good starting point i went ahead and fitted jets he recomended went out and did all the test he recomended the way the bike runs know is magic and is so crisp on the throttle no more deccel popping and so responsive definately has unleashed the beast i have just done the ap adjusting mod but have not retested yet and still have a few things taffy wants me to try so ill give feedback as this happens
not bad though before taffys kit i was running a 185 main and now have a 162 main and could go smaller with more test just want to say a big thanks to Taffy and he was very helpfull with the whole process it was a pleasure doing business with him it certainly takes alot of guess work out and in the end you get all that knowledge for the price of the jets not a bad deal

The kit!

Cant wait for mine.
I have had my 450 on the dyno at Cisco's so its not bad now. So am very interested in any changes.
 
slipping on the akrovopic (sorry about the spelling) slip on titanium muffler, what jetting changes are required...???

(Also with the standard pipe on 08 450 I am getting 25km to the litre and I am normally getting on bergs about 18/20km litre, may be running lean, but seems go go well).

generally the factories over jet std and the pipes need +10 so you are now about spot on.

I have not put the akaaovic slip on pipe yet...I am still running the bike in and finding out how things go standard. Probably next weekend will put the pipe on and also start focusing on the suspension and then whether I need any jetting changes.

The Taffmeisters jet kit arrived last night.
All I can say is it turned my 550 into a 650. I got the "special " RED air screw. If you got the Blue one it will only turn your 550 into a 600 :twisted: I had this bike now since 2005 and just now I find out the real potential. I thought it was good before.

Great kit Taff. I started out with the richest bits and the needle in the middle but it sure starts and idles great and has much more pull. I will fiddle with it some more now that you got me pointed in the right direction. I think the special start air jet helps tons.

David your the greatest.

The rest of you that dont have DaleEo's knowledge and patience , just go for the Taffy kit and find out what you berg is really like. That is the best $$ you can spend for rideability and hp.

was meaning to send you a personal message with how i would start out but it looks like you're a big boy now and can play on your own!

it's vital as you've already discovered to have to have the RED needle. makes a world of difference!
