Taffmeister's disability project

we're doing a disability project for a great bloke from bath at the moment! He was knocked off his bike into oncoming traffic and is disabled from the nipples down. fit a as flee, great attitude - the old up-n-at-em! he has adapted a track day bike and goes to all the road race circuits regularly.

well his next project is to prove that he can ride the dirt - MX to be exact and he brought me a 2002 FE501 converted to gutted-out MX status. not a great start given that it MUST start on the button whatever happens but we will endeavour!

so my part of the deal is to do the following:
the full engine-must-start-on-the-button treatment
a rekluse clutch which I'm still looking for!
to go right through the suspension with emphasis on the bike never washing out on the front
left-hand rear brake fitted
choke onto the bars

we're still going to do the sledge mod - I know what you're thinking - if only for the bloke who picks him and the bike up's sake!

I'm considering having no first and just N-2-3-4-5-6 so that with the power shifter he's gauranteed finding neutral if he wants it? on the other hand if he gets it accidentally he'll fall off? also a mid exhaust shield.

from his side after me
he'll have broad steel bars made to be wider than his legs keeping his feet in
he'll have velcro pads down the inside of his legs to keep everything in
he's fitting a power shifter button to the bars
he's going to have some kind of paddock stand that will come out fitted that will be dropable as he comes to a halt so that he is supported as he comes to a halt
also a kind of ride-on lawnmower seat is the prefered choice!

No real photos at present but as I'm sure you'll agree, it represents quite a challenge!

if you're interested i'll keep you posted!

Taffy
