Anyone found an alternate source for the swingarm slider? I find the replacement part ridiculously priced, since it is just a strip of hard rubber with a couple holes in it.

I was going to try and make one. out of what i dont know, but i have a brand new one and am going to make a template before i put it on.

The stock one looks to be just a high durometer rubber(ie. Hard). A piece of an old conveyor belt would probably be perfect, but where to find it? Or something similar, maybe like a rubber pick-up bed mat or a mud flap. I was also looking on ebay and found some sheet delrin that may work.

How much is a stock swingarm slider? We can't be talking much more than $20. Get the stocker and be done with it or you may just end up paying for it with your time by experimenting with other rubber which may not hold up.

Just a suggestion. :D

Half the fun of owning a bike is tinkering with it. :p

...I broke down and bought a new slider from Dan. From what he said all the future replacements will be of the newer 2004 design. Hopefully it will last a bit longer.

Thanks Dan. :)

dang the luck, i paid $40 just a couple weeks ago! if its only $22 that aint worth messin around trying to make one.

Sorry to be contrary, but I just bought a new chain slider for my YZ, and it was $8.75. Worse yet, the original lasted 20 years!

swingarm chain slider

Listen guys, the chain sliders are made of either UHMW, (ultra-high-molecular-weight) polyethylene, or they are an impregnated nylon, (like Delrin). I've made them even for the yamaha, because 1 sq. ft. is about the same price as the Yammie piece, (correct: $8 and change), and they are way too easy to make. Got a sharp box cutter/utility knife? If you have a plastic supply warehouse anywhere near, check it out. I get mine from their remnent bin and pay VERY little. Yes, tinkering with it is half the fun. :D Happy riding! BD

I made mine out of a timeing belt. You can make 2 or 3 out of one belt.Install with the toothed side facing the swingarm.Mine has held up good and I watch it like a hawk, just to make certain.I priced a replacement over a year ago, then the price was over $40 which to me is way to high. Now the price has come down some which is good.If there is a will there is a way.
