Suspension service

the front shouldn't really tuckunder if you work at it. i would say to myself, does it handle better? (to which the reply is yes) so keep working away at it. pathetic to surrender so meekly. my "fork tuning for enduros" suffered this malais but by working away at it i gradualy understood what was going wrong and got over it to have a better handling bike and better suspension.

a good start is the gearing. i am oh so tired of this but the right gearing for a husaberg in the dirt is 14 x 51 or 13 x 48. anything more and the front end ploughs on. idle, the engine braking is dictated by your idle. this is just two of the reasons.

i don't mind people phucking it up or going round in circles, not reading old threads, ....and then i talke aload of bollocks ............ (edited here).

no worries old fruity im running the reduced offset setting BTW and would like to try to reduce it more to increase the trail without phuging up the nice steep steering head angle , say from 18mm offset to 14 or 16mm hence the extended head.

I run 15/47 on the 650 vs 15/45 std. Got a 49 in the shed too which can be better in the real gnarly stuff.

Wal, I'm now on v3 forks compared to how it was when you rode it. It was good then, but successive hits when loaded, say railing a rough berm, and it would slowly pack down. More shims in the compression stack and bleed holes drilled and I haven't tried better and can't fault it. Works for me, and I just look forward to getting back on in April.

I just remove the forks, support them upside down and pull compression stacks out and send them up to Frank and he can do them overnight. 3 day turnaround. You can call him on 02 4620 9020 if you want to discuss.

Re push, if I'm pushing it, then under brakes the clutch is in so engine braking is out of the equation, especially down hills, the brakes come on and the clutch comes in - my 2 stroke legacy. Can't stall it doing this either.

I will be trying something similar to that 15/47 from my stock 15/45 soon, probably a few months. Im also adding a few pins from 114 to 116. I should work fine with the 47 or 48. I like the stock gearing but it's a little tall since I don't use it to much on the street anymore. It's more like 90% dirt 10% street.

I now have the forks and shock back on the bike. I got a complete revalve. The shock has a 8.1/9.5 KG progresive spring and the forks have .44 KG springs. I rode it up and down the steet the other day and will get an off road ride soon. It does feel much better already and i'm sure i'm going to be happy off road.
I'll let you know

Here's a picture of my 650. I have yet to get it in the dirt after putting it back together but maybe this weekend.
