Hi guys, probably gonna get shot down for askin basic questions but hey, what the heck :bounce3:

Ive got these measurements ...

630 on stand
552 race
600 static

Need to get towards 85 -100 race which will obviously alter static, but i wondered if it was possible to not have enough tension on spring, theres only 15mm of threads left. Does it matter about the 15mm threads as long as the 3 measurements above are correct?

Its a road bike so is the sag as critical as an off roader? Ive also lessened the damping cos its way too hard on my skinny ***.

While im pushin my luck, does anyone know what the crack is here.. my bikes an 03 but accordin to some stuff im readin, the engine is an 04 according to the engine number. Does this mean i got the better later engine when they changed to 04 - or am i kiddin meself? Starter is Mitsuba if that helps, is this the heavy duty one?

Cheers for any help, it is appreciated - even if its a bollockin for doin a wrong post

I don't think it matters how much thread you have left on the shock as long as the numbers are correct.
Sag is critical on and offroad on these bikes.
04 came with a 2 piece clutch cover (4 bolts on a separate cover to access clutch rather than pulling the whole cover). 04 also came with Kehin carb and Kokosan ignition.

Cheers for that, i`ll have to have a gander at the motor. I know its got like a plastic soundin clutch cover about 6 inches in diameter with 4 fixins. I`ll check out the carb when it stops raining here, which will probably be in a few months

you've got 78mm of sag when you want at least 85mm. suggest you unwind the spring between half and one turn and the numbers will come good.

Set the pre load on your rear spring to 4mm, and see what the nets you, that's the minimum amount of pre load you want on the spring. The range is 4-6mm of pre load on the spring. Static should not exceed 35mm's, and rider sag between 90-100.

Try setting the static sag at 35mm's and see what your rider sag is.

i do believe that setting the sag is totally incorrect.
i do believe that it destroys the geometry, etc and is a huge error.
i do believe that the only thing to adjust is your preload by a few mm.
i do believe that if you think i'm wrong you're probably a putz.

i do believe there are a lot of putzs.
